A wonderful tribute to one of our caring physicians

I would like to share a recent acknowledgement that serves as an example of extraordinary care we deliver at Starling Physicians.

We were notified by the daughter of a deceased oncology patient about a generous donation from her mother’s trust. A $50,000 gift in honor of Dr. Todd Alekshun was made towards a fund for Cancer Center patients who need financial support. Preference will be given to patients who need financial help for travel to and from the Cancer Center. The daughter explained that her mother battled leukemia and struggled with the cost of transportation to and from the Cancer Center for her chemotherapy until she went on Title 19. She passed away in July of 2016 and felt as though she received the most amazing care from Dr. Alekshun and his team. 

Dr. Alekshun was extremely touched by the patient’s generosity and shares:

 “She was truly an inspiration to everyone around her and a patient that will never be forgotten. As she battled her condition, I had encouraged her on many occasions that she relocate back to Las Vegas to be with her family as she had no family here. She chose to stay here because she was afraid to leave her medical team in CT. Despite some of the hardships with transportation and living arrangements, she regarded her team as her family and that gave her security. This story is a testament of how working together can positively impact the many lives we touch every day.”
