What’s Included in an Annual Wellness Visit for Medicare Patients
December 18, 2019The Annual Wellness Visit is a once yearly appointment with your Primary Care Provider to discuss and create a personalized prevention plan. Medicare covers the cost of this visit.
Topics typically discussed:
- Cognitive assessments
- Depression screens
- Fall Risk Factors
- End of Life Decisions
- Colonoscopies, mammograms, & other cancer screenings
- Vaccinations
- Hearing and vision assessments
Traditional Medicare plans do not cover a head-to-toe physical exam.
If you would like to discuss other matters related to your health (medical problems, symptoms, medications), accommodations can be made to discuss these matters during the Annual Wellness Visit or at another time.
A charge will be incurred for the provision of this additional service for those patients on traditional Medicare plans. Many, but not all, Medicare Advantage plans cover an annual Physician Exam at no additional cost to the patient.
