If You Suffer From Knee Pain Due to Osteoarthritis, MAKOplasty May Be Right for You!
More that 15 million people in the United States suffer from osteoarthritis of the knee. This can be extremely painful and prevent you from doing the activities you love.
MAKOplasty® is an innovative technology that enables specially trained orthopaedic surgeons to conduct partial or total knee or total hip replacement by using three-dimensional computer imaging and a robotic arm. This procedure can relieve pain caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis and restore range of motion.
Dr. Robert Belniak is one of Connecticut’s leaders in utilizing MAKOplasty for partial knee replacement. Dr. Belniak is also one of six doctors in the state who is trained and certified to use MAKO technology for total knee replacements.
MAKOplasty has revolutionized knee repair by providing surgeons with the accuracy to pinpoint the exact damaged area and implant an artificial device that is in perfect alignment with the rest of the knee. This improves how long the implant will last and how quickly you can resume activities.
How MAKOplasty Works
Dr. Robert Belniak has performed dozens of knee repairs using this advanced technology.
- The Mako technology provides Dr. Belniak with a customized 3-D model of your knee to pre-plan your knee replacement.
- During surgery, he guides the RIO® robotic-arm based on your plan. This allows him to remove only the diseased bone, preserving healthy bone and soft tissue.
- The procedure is performed in an outpatient surgical setting. You should be able to get back on your feet within days and achieve full mobility within weeks.
