We are an American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited facility and are held to the highest national standards. We treat patients of all ages and offer the following imaging services:
CT Scan
CT scanning combines special X-ray equipment with computers to produce multiple images of the inside of the body. CT scans are used to examine the internal organs, bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels, and provide greater clarity than regular X-rays. We have a 16-slice GE Brightspeed unit with 3D rendering capability. Some of the many body areas we scan include the head and neck, facial bones, sinus cavities, chest, abdomen, and spine. We also offer renal and aneurysm studies.
MRI
MRI uses a powerful magnetic field, radiofrequency pulses, and a computer to produce detailed pictures of organs, soft tissue, bones, and virtually all other internal body structures. MRI does not use radiation. We have a Philips 1.5 Tesla magnet, offering a comfortable environment and music to help relax the patient during scan time. Some MRI scans we offer include:
- Brain/IACs/pituitary • Brain MRA
- Spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar) • Hips
- Pelvis • Extremities
- MRCP (gallbladder study) • Abdomen
Ultrasound
Ultrasound involves exposing the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. These exams do not use radiation. Some studies we offer include breast, abdomen, pelvis, testicular, thyroid, and vascular.
Mammography
Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose X-ray system to examine breasts. Our registered mammographers are trained to perform screening and diagnostic exams and we use the newest 3D technology.
Bone Density Scans
Bone Density Scanning is an enhanced form of X-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss. Our GE Lunar Prodigy unit offers a low dose and quick scan time. We have the ability to scan the spine, hips, and forearms.
X-rays
An X-ray is a non-invasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imagery. We have the latest technology in digital radiography (DR). We are able to accommodate all ages and offer convenient hours. We now offer x-rays in both New Britain and Glastonbury.
Calcium Scoring
Calcium scoring is a non-invasive CT scan of the heart to calculate your risk of developing coronary artery disease by measuring the amount of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. It is a quick and painless test and is a better predictor of coronary events than cholesterol screening or other risk factor assessments. Your primary care provider can advise you if you are a good candidate.
Low Dose Lung CT Lung Cancer Screening (LDCT)
Our low dose screening is recommended for those who are at high risk for lung cancer based on age or smoking history. The scan creates a detailed 3-D picture of your lungs, using 75% less radiation and providing much more detail than a standard chest X-ray. LDCT is now the only method recommended for lung cancer screening and can improve survival rates with early detection.

Now Offering Electronic Sharing of Imaging
We now offer an electronic image sharing system called PocketHealth Patient Sharing. This platform enables our patients to share their Starling Physicians imaging records quickly, securely, and more efficiently with their healthcare providers. By providing your email and following a few simple steps, patients can access, permanently store and share their diagnostic imaging records with any healthcare provider. Click here to learn more>.

3D Mammography
3D mammography allows doctors to see masses and distortions associated with cancers and precancerous cells significantly more clearly than conventional 2D mammography. Instead of viewing all of the complexities of your breast tissue in a flat image, as with traditional 2D mammography, fine details are more visible and no longer hidden by the tissue above or below.
