Salisbury Steak
Come on…who doesn’t love a little comfort food?? This recipe elevates boring ground beef into a fancy meal. But let’s keep it simple and serve with mashed potatoes and your favorite vegetable. You just can’t go wrong with this one.
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion chopped and sauteed
2 Tbsp flour
¼ cup club soda
1 egg beaten
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 can (14.5 oz) beef broth
1 can (8 oz) sliced mushrooms; drained
Salt/pepper to taste
Flour for dredging
2 Tbsp Cornstarch + little cold water (blend until smooth)
In a large bowl mix beef and sauteed onions. Then mix in flour, club soda and egg. Chill mixture for 30 minutes.
Shape into 4x2x1 inch oval patties. Dredge with flour.
In a skillet over medium heat brown patties on both sides in vegetable oil. Do not fully cook as they will simmer in pan later. Remove from pan. Add broth to skillet and bring to boil. Add in mushrooms, little salt/pepper and cornstarch slurry. Return patties to skillet and let simmer for 20 minutes.
