Dr. Fernando has been practicing nephrology with Nephrologic Associates since 2006.  He completed medical school at St. George’s University. His residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Nephrology was at Yale St. Raphael Hospital.  He is the Director of Acute Care Dialysis Services at the Hospital of Special Care and the Medical Director of Dialysis Care at Herald Square Dialysis.

Dr. Fernando continues to use his undergraduate training in electrical engineering and post-doctoral training in medical informatics to develop systems to assess and improve the quality of medical care. Dr. Fernando has led Nephrologic Associates in attaining Medicare Certified Meaningful Use since 2011. Dr. Fernando is also an alumni of the Hartford Hospital Physician Leadership Development Institute.

Dr. Fernando enjoys spending time with his wife and three children who are active in their local swim team, church, and community activities. Dr. Fernando was honored in 2015 for his extraordinary work locally in the community as a Volunteer Hero by the YMCA of Cheshire, and has received a Congressional citation from the Connecticut General Assembly, and a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the U.S. Congress.
