Ojas Mainkar, M.D., Interventional Spine & Pain Management
August 23, 2022Dr. Mainkar spent his early childhood years growing up in Storrs, Conn. before moving to Virginia with his family. He attended college at Carnegie Mellon University where he studied mechanical and biomedical engineering in addition to his pre-medical studies. He earned his medical degree from Alpert Medical School of Brown University then completed his residency in anesthesiology at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he also rotated through the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Hospital for Special Surgery. Afterward he completed his fellowship in chronic pain management at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
Dr. Mainkar takes a holistic, patient-centered approach when developing treatment plans for his patients. When appropriate, he will perform fluoroscopically-guided injections and other minimally-invasive procedures to help patients reduce pain and optimize their functionality. Within the field of pain management, Dr. Mainkar has a special interest in treating neck and back pain. He has authored several textbook chapters and publications in top pain management journals covering topics in interventional spine and neuromodulation techniques.
In his free time, Dr. Mainkar enjoys spending time with his family, racing triathlons, trekking, cooking, and woodworking.
