Meet Our New OB/GYN, Dr. Jessica Lovesky
June 30, 2020Dr. Lovesky joins our OB/GYN team this August and will see patients in Hartford, Bloomfield, and Wethersfield. In the interview below, she shares some of her background.
Did you grow up in this area?
No, I grew up in upstate New York. But I did my residency training here and am thrilled to be joining a practice in this area.
Where did you receive your training?
I attended Cornell University and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Society, with minors in Nutrition and Inequality Studies. I then went to Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA where I received my Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health. I did my OB/GYN residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
What made you want to be an OB/GYN?
I love being able to help women through some of their most vulnerable moments. I also am enjoy taking care of women of all ages and at different points in their lifetimes. Finally, I was drawn to this specialty because OB/GYN allows me to provide a combination of primary/ preventive care and specialty care, including surgery.
Do you have any particular areas of interest within this field?
I enjoy all aspects of women’s health – in particular, the ability to care for women through all stages of their lives. My special interests include high-risk obstetrics, contraception and family planning, and minimally invasive laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.
At Starling, what are some of the key services you will provide?
- Routine gynecologic health maintenance
- Care for gynecologic concerns including infections, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, and contraception and family planning, among others
- Obstetric care for routine and high-risk pregnant women
- Gynecologic surgery
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
I enjoy running, cooking and trying new restaurants, traveling, and playing with my dog, Ripley.
