Meet Our New Chief Financial Officer: Gary Golliher
February 28, 2019Gary joins us from the Hutchinson Clinic in Kansas where he served since 2015 as the CFO of a large physician-owned, multispecialty group practice with nearly 100 providers. There he led a 96-person team, overseeing ACO strategy, accounting, revenue cycle, contracting, IT, physician compensation, clinical quality, purchasing, decision support, and compliance.
During his time there, he was able to transform the culture in the finance team from one that was reactive, to one that was proactive with a focus on continuous improvement and getting to the root of systematic problems.
Some of his noteworthy accomplishments included: creating a Medicare shared savings ACO, identifying revenue-enhancing strategies which resulted in netting an additional $1 million dollars in annual revenue, developing alternative compensation models to align physicians with the group’s long-term strategy, and installing a new population health analytical tool that integrates EMR data with claims-based data from payers.
Prior to his tenure at Hutchinson, Gary worked from 2008-2015 as Director of Healthcare Finance for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic and KelseyCare Advantage in Houston, Texas which was also a physician-owned, multispecialty group practice with 400 providers in 18 locations.
In his earlier years, he worked as a health analyst for the Skagit County Health Department, served as a senior market analyst with Olympic Health Management Systems, and worked for 10 years in increasingly senior financial roles at the Group Health Cooperative in Seattle, WA.
Gary graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA in 1992. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 1996.
Gary will start with Starling on April 8th. We are thrilled to have someone with his experience, wealth of knowledge, and financial acumen join our team.
