Convenient – Starling and Labcorp offer dozens of new sites throughout Central Connecticut, including 10 Labcorp at Walgreens locations. You can also continue to visit lab patient service centers in select Starling offices.
Easy – With Labcorp Express and the Labcorp Patient app, patients can book appointments ahead and check-in online at LabCorp patient service centers (PSCs), securely access their test results, and check the status of their accounts.
Cost-Effective – Labcorp provides comparable, if not lower, rates than many commercial laboratories. We do not charge facility or administrative fees. Labcorp is in-network with most insurance plans including Connecticare, UnitedHealthcare, Anthem, Cigna, Aetna, as well as many other health plans in the state.
Safe –We adhere to the highest safety standards. Labcorp offers the “Wait Where You’re Comfortable” Program, which allows you to check-in online and wait in a convenient place until you receive a text to enter the Labcorp patient service center.
Efficient – Brand new Labcorp PSCs will have reduced wait times. Available only at Labcorp locations, patients can check in remotely and wait outside to limit time spent in the waiting room.
Professional – Well-trained, certified laboratory phlebotomists are staffed at every location, welcoming each Starling patient.
Flexible – Patients can continue to have labs drawn in our onsite Starling PSC, or can visit more than a dozen new Labcorp PSCs.
Labcorp staff members are not associates, employees and/or agents of Walgreens or any of its subsidiary or affiliated companies, or of Starling Labs.

Starling Physicians provides comprehensive clinical, anatomic, and molecular pathology services through Starling Physicians Laboratories. Anatomic and surgical pathology services are provided via partnership with Eastern Connecticut Pathology Consultants, PC (ECPC), a premier pathology group providing pathology services throughout Connecticut and southern Massachusetts. The clinical laboratory is also supported by partnering with our national reference laboratory, LabCorp, Inc.
Dr. Robert Schwartz is a member of ECPC and serves as Medical Director of the Starling Physicians Clinical and Anatomic Pathology Laboratories. Dr. Schwartz is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Schwartz received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut Medical School. He completed pathology residency and Fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Breast Pathology at Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Schwartz is the recipient of the STAR Award for Professionalism from Eastern Connecticut Health Network and is proud to have served as Chair of multiple hospital pathology departments and hospital-based committees. He is involved with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) on a national level, having served on both the Immunohistochemistry Committee and Surgical Pathology Committee of the CAP, as well as a national expert advisory panel for immunohistochemistry guidelines.
Dr. Schwartz’s and ECPC’s primary responsibility is providing clinical care via pathology case diagnosis with accurate and timely case signout. The Medical Director is also responsible for:
By working closely with the Starling laboratory administrators, Dr. Schwartz has already facilitated improvements in quality metrics, workforce stabilization, and improved productivity while beginning an expansion of in-house testing capabilities with a focus on molecular testing. All in all, Starling’s physicians and patients are receiving the highest standards of pathology services equivalent to many tertiary-care facilities with the personal touch and care only possible in local community settings.
Nancy is a certified Medical Technologist with over 30 years of Laboratory experience in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She has worked in both small labs and large city hospital labs. She has managed and or supervised all areas of the lab and shares that the Blood Bank is especially near and dear to her heart.
