Highlights from Recent Employee Survey
I would like to share the results of a recent employee survey that was sent to all staff. The response rate was excellent with 275 responses split evenly among CMG and GH employees, as well as 30 new hires.
Here are some highlights:
- 78% of people were satisfied or very satisfied to work at Starling. Less that 4% were dissatisfied to work at the company, and the remainder was neutral.
- 94% of people felt they were empowered to play a role in delivering a better healthcare experience to patients.
- Over 60% felt that managers helped them understand organization goals and prepared them for their role. People also agreed that they had training and resources to perform their job.
- Three fourths of people agreed that they were treated with respect.
Overall the moral is good and 89% of our employees said their level of job satisfaction has stayed the same or increased since the merger. Of the people who said job satisfaction has decreased, they provided in depth feedback that will be very helpful as we develop plans to address these issues.
We received a wealth of comments on the survey and the staff provided excellent suggestions for improvement opportunities. One of the most clear take aways from the survey is that employees want to hear more from senior management about the direction and goals of Starling. They also want ongoing communication to stay informed about what is happening throughout the organization, when new providers join, and improved capabilities. We will definitely work to enhance our internal communication efforts moving forward.
Another common theme we heard and a more challenging one to address is the cost of the health insurance plan with the high deductible. As the physician benefit committee recently learned, this issue is a significant challenge as we try and control the ever-increasing costs of providing health insurance.
We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and hard working staff and will continue to work to make sure they feel engaged and valued for all that they do. If you have questions about the employee survey, please let me know.
