Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Dispensary
Do you accept my prescription benefit coverage?
In most cases, yes, we do. We are able to process prescription claims with most major commercial insurance plans. We are also able to process Medicare Part D prescriptions, as appropriate.
What if I need prior authorization?
If required, our Dispensary assistant will obtain approval from your insurance company, usually within 2-3 business days.
Will it cost me more to fill my prescription here than at a retail pharmacy?
No. In fact, many times it can cost less to fill your prescription at our in-office dispensary. Retail pharmacies often require immediate payment and may not be able to verify all coverage options before dispensing.
We are able to verify coverage and investigate alternative co-payment assistance resources, which may decrease your out-of-pocket cost.
Can all prescriptions be filled at the Starling In-office Dispensary?
We can fill the majority of prescriptions from your hematologist/oncologist. If we are unable to fill a prescription, we will coordinate with a specialty pharmacy that will provide the medication. We will notify you with the specialty pharmacy information, and they will contact you directly for payment and delivery.
Do I have to fill my prescription at your office?
No. You are always welcome to fill your prescription at any pharmacy that accepts your prescription benefit coverage. We are offering this service as a convenience for our patients.
Should you decide to fill your prescription at another pharmacy, your decision will not affect the medical care you receive from our team at Starling Physicians.
How long will it take to receive my medication?
We will fill your prescription as quickly as possible, following verification of available prescription benefit coverage and alternative co-payment assistance resources.
It may be available immediately. If not, we will call you to arrange a time to pick up your prescription and discuss your treatment plan with our Dispensary assistant.
What happens when I need refills?
Please call the office one week prior to your scheduled refill to allow ample time for your prescription to be processed. You must speak to our Dispensary assistant to verify your refill and provide co-pay. Please call us directly at (860) 721-5735 or (860) 246-6647 ext. 2070.
What if I need assistance with my co-pay?
If your co-pay is expensive or is a financial hardship, our Dispensary assistant will investigate alternatives, including patient and pharmaceutical financial assistance programs or vouchers.
When can I start using this service?
Talk to your health care team to get started today. Make sure you have provided your prescription benefit card to the Dispensary assistant to participate. We will take care of the rest, and be there to help you every step of the way.
