Dr. Ahmed M. Elwan, Cardiology
June 5, 2019Dr. Ahmed Elwan was born in Northern Ireland and grew up in Egypt. He earned his medical degree with honors from Cairo University. After the completion of his echocardiography residency in Egypt, he did his internal medicine residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in NYC where he served as Chief Resident. He joined the cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and served as Chief Fellow during his last year.
Dr. Elwan joins us from Hartford Hospital where he has been a cardiology hospitalist since 2013. In that role, he acted as the primary attending for cardiac patients and was responsible for admissions, coordinating care, and providing coverage in cardiac critical care patient units. He is fluent in English, Arabic, and German and is conversant in medical Spanish.
