A Successful First Year
As we are completing the first year of the merger of CMG and Grove Hill into the entity of Starling, I want to express how successful and lucky I feel we have been. The joint board has been meeting on a regular basis and have voted on some very difficult issues in a fair and respectful way. The board met for a full day retreat and confirmed our belief in what we have started, and look to the future for growth and success. In January the board will vote on actionable items to proceed for the next one to three years. We confirmed our vision and are rewording our mission statement.
Tracy King has been working on educating us about MIPS and MACRA, and has prepared Starling for going forward in this new and crazy environment.
We had a successful first annual meeting which was well attended. Our partners asked questions, and hopefully were comfortable with the answers they received, as well as why the executive team and board of directors are enthusiastic about the future of Starling.
Jarrod and the IT team have done a huge amount of work preparing for the unified medical record, and the coming of Allscripts to the Grove Hill branch next year. We are confident that this will be successful.
Mark and John have had numerous meetings with individuals and groups of physicians to answer their questions and address any concerns.
We have added multiple physicians and extenders this year including the five member New Britain Nephrology group who will join CMG nephrology on January 1st. We have also added physicians to the divisions of hospital medicine, cardiology, pulmonary, endocrinology, pediatrics, OB/GYN, and the new division of neurology. We have signed agreements with new physicians to join this coming year in oncology, hospital medicine, and pulmonary. We also anticipate signing new physicians in urology, internal medicine, and hopefully gastroenterology. We have also opened up discussions with other groups and individuals to work together with Starling, and possibly join together in the future.
We realize that we did make some mistakes as we started, and thank everyone for their advice and allowing us to correct them. We will continue to improve in the future. I am comfortable that we are on track to complete what we originally planned which is to be fully integrated and eliminate the branches in the next two years and possibly sooner.
The entire administrative team and I would like to thank you and wish everyone healthy and happy holidays.
Please mark your calendars for the 2nd annual Okemo Ski trip on Friday March 3rd, 2017.
